WORK HISTORY

ABOUT MARTY BORSOTTI

I wrote a Master degree thesis based on an ethnographic fieldwork conducted at Takachiho, in Miyazaki prefecture, over the span of two years. My object of study was the impact of socio-economical changes within the community, mainly caused by tourism and heritage preservation, on the local agrarian rituals. My work was concretized through the defense of my thesis, that could be translated as \"Takachiho\'s Yokagura community, ethnography of an agrarian ritual facing social changes and the preservation of its practices\". Nowadays, due to the pandemic, I focus my activites on my Managing Editor role within a web-magazine project called Wasshoi! as I aim to harness skills tied to the editorial world as well as the publishing of magazine and web-content.My areas of interest are primarly related to Japanese culture but I am also looking to participate to the development of a more ethic approach to tourism. The main goal of my career would be to contribute to the mutual comprehension and cultural exchange between Japan and the western societies.I conducted a Master degree thesis focused on a Japanese agrarian rite confronted to socio-economic changes tied to the local tourist industry. I am currently developing a career in on-line content creation, mainly through the written medium. I am also looking forward to the resolution of the current pandemic situation to develop a parallel career in the field of tourism, mainly as a guide in Japan. I firmly believe that this situation is a chance to develop an eco-friendly approach to tourism. My life goal is to contribute to the mutual understanding between Japan and the West, being a mediator connecting tourist and local populations and smooth the experiences of both parites.
