WORK HISTORY
Director, Office of Watersheds @Philadelphia Water Department
Philadelphia, PA, US
The Office of Watersheds manages and protects Philadelphia\'s rivers and streams and serves a fundamental role in ensuring the long-term resilience of PWD’s critical services and infrastructure systems. The City’s waterways supply Philadelphians with drinking water, provide environmental benefits for the region, serve as habitat for aquatic life, and collect stormwater and wastewater flow. Sound science, thoughtful planning, and risk management principles are used to achieve the goals and requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Clean Water Act, in addition to informing policies from the project to the basin scale. Through innovative programs and partnerships and advanced technical and scientific work, the Office of Watersheds directs PWD\'s strategies to address pollution, climate change, and other challenges to our watershed and drinking water, wastewater and stormwater systems.

ABOUT KELLY ANDERSON
I am currently the Director of the Office of Watersheds at Philadelphia Water Department. Wet Weather Compliance; Climate Change Adaptation, Water Quality Compliance Modeling, Hydrologic/Hydraulic Modeling, Source Water Protection, and Watershed Field Services are all under my supervision. PWD has an extensive water resources protection program that focuses on actively managing and coordinating the necessary programs that best protect the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers, the sources of the City of Philadelphia\'s drinking water supply. My team is currently responsible for creating the vision and facilitating the strategic planning processes necessary to ensure that the drinking water supply for Philadelphia is safeguarded today and for future generations. The Water Resources Management and Protection Programs implement and direct research initiatives surrounding water supply quality and quantity. Managing these teams include overseeing watershed monitoring coordination and directing the necessary analyses of water quality and supply trends throughout the Philadelphia region\'s square mile watershed area. My team is also responsible for managing and assessing risks to the water supply, developing watershed assessments, working closely with watershed partnerships and other regional stakeholders, and evaluating water policies and their implications on our watersheds.
