I chose to partner with Vistage as a Chair to empower fellow CEOs and business leaders to become better leaders and achieve better results. Why Did I Become a Vistage Chair? While I enjoyed the various successes in all of my leadership roles—from launching billion-dollar molecules to turning around struggling businesses—what truly impacted me was helping the people around me achieve more than they thought possible without killing themselves in the process. My favorite memories are not so much what we achieved, but the ah-ah moments my colleagues came to while achieving them. When I left Honeywell and started running DMD Systems, I quickly learned that it was lonely at the top. I missed having other smart people to bounce ideas off of and having other smart people bounce their ideas off of me. That is why I joined Vistage as a member. It was fantastic to have a dozen other talented business leaders provide me with unbiased input on my issues and energizing for me to provide input to others. I was able to make better decisions, sleep better at night, achieve better results, and find joy in my fellow members\' success. With the realization that my joy comes from helping others achieve success, becoming a Vistage Chair was a no-brainer.
