The Principal Advisor, Building Act Compliance, is responsible for:Providing expert guidance and support on technical and regulatory building compliance matters.Assisting School Property staff and schools in identifying suitable suppliers for complex technical or compliance-related issues.Managing national Building Act compliance contracts—such as those for Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF) delivery and Building Consent Compliance—to ensure strong supplier performance and ongoing improvement.Working closely with suppliers, School Property staff, and schools to maximise the value delivered through these contracts.Advising School Property teams to ensure Building Act and technical compliance solutions are robust, nationally consistent, and cost-effective.Offering internal expertise to review supplier proposals, technical recommendations, and regulatory compliance approaches, ensuring they are appropriate and provide value for money.AccountabilitiesDeliver training and guidance through internal and external channels to ensure key messages reach the intended audiences.Promote awareness among School Property asset management and delivery staff, schools, and project managers about the importance of meeting building compliance requirements.Collaborate across the organisation to strengthen asset management practices that support Building Act compliance.Take on additional tasks as required to support the Ownership and Occupancy team.Build and maintain effective relationships with:Building Consent Authorities across New Zealand to actively manage emerging risks and issues.Ministry suppliers delivering Building Act compliance services, ensuring expectations around solutions and behaviours are clearly understood and upheld.School Property staff and schools that regularly engage with suppliers providing Building Act compliance services.
