ABOUT ANN WHITFIELD

I have specialised in Infection Prevention & Control (ICP) and Occupational Health for 18 years in Australia, Liberia, Tanzania, West Timor and New Zealand. I relish the challenge of being a Board Director with ACIPC and I’m a credentialed expert with ACIPC. I have humanitarian experience in developing and implementing IPC programmes for the Global Health Alliance Western Australia, Flinders Overseas Health Group, the World Health Organisation for the Ebola response and for the Commonwealth as part of the COVID-19 response. Recently I have coordinated respiratory protection programmes (fit testing), COVID-19 vaccination programmes and consulted in healthcare design and ventilation. Also responded as an IPC expert supporting an Aged Care COVID-19 outbreak and recently successful with a national grant for reducing harm by Invasive Devices. During my career I have been humbled and proud to be a registered nurse from experiences in different health systems, cultures and communities. I am transparent and believe in being authentic, to improve patient outcomes and safety for staff. My goals are to create a better understanding of the IPC role, it’s depth and diversity not only within healthcare but other sectors. I wish to extend collaborations and connections across world by the sharing of knowledge to benefit IPC experts and the wider community.
