ABOUT WILME STEENEKAMP
I am a Medical Doctor as well as a Clinical Psychologist. I am very enthusiastic about understanding human behaviour and addressing real reasons for problematic behaviour and human dilemmas. I love increasing awareness by presenting workshops, teaching, sharing information, writing, public speaking. I have developed a dynamic programme (Homegrown Heroes - a call to duty) to help men develop a meaningful life, by taking pride in personal responsibility in actionable, practical steps. It provides a novel approach to self-knowledge and skills that can be applied to resolve challenges and lead to growth and opportunity. I am also particularly interested in depression in males. I work with individuals, couples, groups within the government sector as well as in private practice. I have developed several workshops, lectures and have written a multitude of articles about physical and mental health-related topics. I deal especially with creating a meaningful life, the emotional impact of medical conditions and procedures,\"difficult to talk about\" issues, anxiety, depression, death- and non-death related loss, adjusting to new environments, defence mechanisms, trauma, co-dependency, sexology.
