About Yvette Ruffin

Communications is about storytelling. From a young age, I could craft a compelling story. As a child, instead of watching TV sitcoms and dramas, I was mesmerized by news broadcasts and news magazine type shows. Those shows, coupled with my ability to craft a great story, inspired my desire to become a journalist. I relentlessly pursued that goal. Graduation from the University Of North Carolina School Of Journalism led to a stint as a newspaper reporter and ultimately to a satisfying career dedicated to delivering strategic communications results. As a naturally curious individual with a passion for learning, I enjoy being challenged at work. Challenged by how to approach a task, challenged by understanding the nature of the work, and challenged by analyzing the cause (and effect) of specific issues. It’s not enough to collect the information; I am passionate about crafting ideas and compelling stories from these facts. I thrive in fast-paced environments where collaboration is essential to consensus building. My strong verbal abilities partner with my written communication skills for professional balance and symmetry. As a results-oriented, strategist, I utilize corporate goals and mission for overall direction. With this approach, however, I am innovative in providing counsel and strategy for optimal results. Before telling a story, for instance, its purpose must be understood. Once that purpose is understood, creativity flows. I’ve enjoyed a broad career as a successful professional communicator because I am curious, have an investigative sprit and a keen interest in continual learning. I am driven to success by a quest to continue expanding my expertise through the pursuit of knowledge.
