Marquette Transportation is one of the nation\'s largest inland marine and near-shore providers of marine transportation services with 130+ tow boats and 1200+ barges. Marquette has grown from a small family-owned business to $800+ million in revenue. The company has very few SOPs and runs on tribal knowledge. I was brought in to work with the business units to develop SOPs, gather requirements for new systems and lead new systems efforts in the areas of sales / logistics, engineering / procurement and HR / crewing / payroll including RFP development, software selection, etc. including all PMO responsibilities for all IT projects, including infrastructure. I was also tasked with laying the foundation for an in-house development team to be used to fill in functionality gaps within the new integrated best-of-breed solutions. Developed IT 3 - 5 year strategy assuming an increased rate of growth via acquisitions (private equity). Continuously working to win over hearts and minds to shift company culture to one that is process and people driven with the aid of powerful marine technology. This is a new position for Marquette, so currently the role is very \"hands on\"- very much a \"chief cook and bottle washer\" situation.
