ABOUT TOBIAS KÜNKEL
I work at the intersection of classic TV and platform reality.I am the Managing Director of Qvest Engage and coordinating the OTT activities within the global Qvest Group. Over the past 20 years, I have led and coordinated teams delivering OTT and video platform work for Tier 1 media, telco, and sports organizations including Deutsche Telekom, Sky, DFL, Vodafone, ZDF, ARD, and Red Bull, and increasingly for Tier 1 players across Europe and MENA.What I do is not buzzwords or slideware. It is helping teams build, modernize, and operate video products and platforms that hold up in the real world: technically solid, user-centered, and monetizable. What you will get from my posts:Clear takes on old TV logic vs platform logic, with a concrete “So what?” for executivesFrameworks you can reuse: decision rules, checklists, build vs buy views, market mapsPractical AI in media products: where it helps, where it breaks, what orgs underestimateMonetization and product models: CTV, D2C, bundles, ads, and the tradeoffs behind themThe convergence story: traditional TV, streaming, and social video are merging into one distribution and product reality. The winners will build for all of it, not just one channel.Personal note: I have always loved TV. I grew up in the late 80s and 90s, right in the first expansion wave. I worked in cinemas, loved VHS, and studied Media and Information Science in Germany as soon as I could. It is still amazing to me that this is my job: helping evolve TV into whatever comes next.I have been in this for 20 years. I will spend the next 20 on it.
