ABOUT TIE GEBRU
My journey in this field began during the aftermath of Winter Storm Uri. A disaster that left several communities in Texas without electricity or water for several days, putting us in terrible positions. Tragically, a family that I knew of perished from carbon monoxide poisoning when they resorted to using their car for warmth. Witnessing the devastating consequences of unpreparedness and the need for disaster management fueled my desire to support the resilience and safety of my community. I’m currently enrolled as a junior at the University of North Texas (UNT), I am pursuing a degree in Emergency Administration and planning and a minor in Public Administration. Through my academic pursuits and training, I am driven by the genuine belief that I can make a difference in my community\'s preparedness and resilience.
