Chief Policy Officer and General Counsel, Ford Motor Company. Responsibilities include Legal, Compliance, Government Affairs, Physical Security, and Privacy for Ford globally; manages Ford’s Office of General Counsel, Environment and Safety Compliance, Office of Government Affairs, Security Department, and Privacy Office. Actively manage litigation, regulatory matters, government relations, business transactions, labor issues, trade, and environmental compliance, Previously partner in the Litigation Department of Latham & Watkins, Washington DC Office, with practice in civil litigation, regulatory compliance, law and policy reform, and government-oriented advice and counseling (20••••21).Served as General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Energy (2014-17). Areas of focus included energy law and policy, defense-side environmental litigation, power markets, transmission, renewables, environmental regulation, nuclear power and radioactive waste, and natural resources. Core responsibilities included all aspects of nuclear cycle, CFIUS, LNG licensing, NEPA, cyber, loans, ethics, risk management, government contracts, intellectual property, congressional oversight, and internal investigations. Also served in President Obama’s White House (2010-14), including as Deputy White House Counsel (2012-14). Oversaw team of lawyers responsible for implementation of the Administration\'s major domestic regulatory initiatives, including energy and climate, financial sector, health care, immigration, criminal justice, and civil rights. Advised the President and senior White House officials concerning major litigation, regulatory matters, policy, communications and crisis response, ethics, and congressional oversight. Previously served on the White House Domestic Policy Council as Special Assistant to the President for Justice & Regulatory Policy (20••••11).Additional significant experience includes service as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, representing the United States in various affirmative and defensive civil litigation matters in federal courts (2006-10); chaired Law Professor at the University of Michigan Law School, teaching administrative law, regulation, civil procedure, torts, energy law, and specialized courses (1993 - present); and Council Member and Vice Chair and Acting Chair of the Administrative Conference of the United States (2015-16).
