Influence and shape the strategic direction of an academic health system start-up that is now in it’s 11th year and is ranked within the top 25 in the country by U.S. News & World Report• Develop and implement a strategic plan for growth, including the acquisition of an inpatient community hospital and multiple marquee physician groups Shawn Sheffield, MBA, MHSA, serves as Chief Strategy and System Development Officer for Keck Medicine of USC. In this role, she oversees the development and execution of clinical strategic plans, business development, clinical acquisitions and affiliations, contracting/payor relations and marketing/public relations for the health system. Sheffield works closely with leadership to further the health system’s goals of becoming a preeminent academic medical center and regional referral center. She also manages Keck Medicine’s clinical affiliation relationships and other network partners. Prior to joining USC in 2012, she served as chief strategy and business officer and assistant vice chancellor of resource, strategy and planning for UC San Diego Health Sciences. Sheffield joined UC San Diego Health Sciences in 2006 as the vice chair for administration in the Department of Pediatrics. Previously, she held academic leadership positions at the University of California, San Francisco and Johns Hopkins University.She received both her Master of Business Administration and Master of Health Science Administration degrees from Arizona State University.
