Responsible for the transformation of Skills Consulting Group as an Industry Training Organisation (ITO), a standard setting body and arranger of tertiary training, into a Private Training Establishment (PTE), delivering tertiary training across multiple industries, and operating in a highly competitive market. The transformation began in October 2022 and is ongoing as we have restructured the entire organisation, built a new Executive Leadership Team, significantly grown the business (both organically and through acquisition), undertaken the acquisition and redevelopment of six major buildings/sites, and re-branded the entire organisation, including all the business sub-brands. Several strategic projects are underway to continue to grow Skills’ footprint in New Zealand and offshore.Today, Skills is a $160m turnover business, with approximately 600 staff. It operates in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and the United States. Skills trains approximately learners per year, across several Industry sectors. It has 27 sites located throughout New Zealand. We offer training for learners from school leavers through to CEOs, as part of our corporate training business.Skills derives close to a third of its revenue from Government funding, therefore managing government contracts and obligations is a key part of the role. In addition, Skills is a charity, a key part of the role is to generate profit to support Skills’ Foundation, which is the vehicle for distributing charitable grants back into Industry and the betterment of the tertiary education sector.
