I have been in practice for 28 years and helping people is my passion. I am the author of the book The Eating Disorder Trap: A Guide for Clinicians and Loved ones. I am also the host of the podcast The Eating Disorder Trap Podcast. I see adults, kids, teens and seniors. I help clients develop a new relationship with food as it is not always what they are eating but WHY they are eating. We work on being able to return to the place of being able to listen to their hunger and fullness signals. We will explore the reasons that they eat, with learning how to develop tools for when there are times that they eat out of boredom, emotion or unconsciousness. I work from a weight inclusive, HAES perspective. I see clients with various medical conditions such as Diabetes Mellitus, Coronary Artery Disease, Hypercholesterolemia and various Gastrointestinal Diseases such as Celiac Disease, Crohns Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. I also see women for pre-pregnancy nutritional guidance during their IVF/IUI treatments. Once again we work on their relationship with food as well as concerns and fears they have around various food selections. Furthermore, I work with clients in the addiction world whom also have eating disorders/body image issues. I also see perimenopausal and menopausal women who want to eat to optimize their energy and repair their relationships with food and their body. I see many kids who may not have an eating disorder but are either feeling uncomfortable in their body or their family member is uncomfortable with their body. My role will be to help them be in touch with the different levels of hunger and fullness as well as to not be afraid of food. I work with the parents on the language that they use with their children since I believe that eating can and should be a pleasurable experience.
