ABOUT PATRICIA MUNATSI-MANGWIZA

I am a strategic leader and human rights advocate with extensive experience in governmental affairs, public affairs, corporate and strategic communications, and public policy. I serve as a Commissioner at the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC), appointed by President Catherine Connolly following approval by both Houses of the Oireachtas and on the advice of Government. In this national role, I work alongside 15 Commissioners to advance IHREC’s mandate under the IHREC Act 2014, ensuring that Ireland upholds its human rights and equality obligations at both domestic and international levels.I also serve as a member of the Government’s Expert Advisory Committee on Racial Equality and Racism, contributing to the development, monitoring, and accountability of national anti‑racism policy. My work in this space is strengthened by my leadership as Co‑Founder and Director of Black Professionals Ireland, a national organisation dedicated to advancing equity, representation, and career progression for Black professionals across sectors.Across all my roles, I bring a deep commitment to systemic change, inclusive policy design, and evidence‑driven advocacy. I have built a career grounded in amplifying marginalized voices, strengthening institutional accountability, and fostering cross‑sector collaboration. My focus remains on creating a society where fairness, dignity, and equal opportunity are not aspirational ideals but lived realities for all.
