About Matt Glickman
The bulk of my career has been as a technology entrepreneur and executive, though I now mainly help other entrepreneurs - at Promise Venture Studio, supporting social entrepreneurs in early childhood education and development, at Stanford Business School teaching entrepreneurship and management and advising, investing in and serving on the board of growing organizations. I have over 20 years experience starting and growing Internet and software companies. My main accomplishments are building two leading companies in two different realms of the technology world: consumer Internet (BabyCenter) and SasS/enterprise (Merced Systems). I was co-founder and CEO of BabyCenter, the #1 web-based business for new and expectant parents and of Merced Systems, an analytics software company.BabyCenter won numerous awards, was unique for its high levels of customer engagement and its innovative business model, which combined content and commerce. I grew the company to 175 employees and $35 million in revenue in 3 years. The company is now a part of Johnson & Johnson. As co-founder and CEO of, Merced Systems I grew the company to a 250-person,$60MM revenue global enterprise software company, and we had 9 consecutive years of profitability up through our sale to NICE Systems in 2011. Merced defined and led a whole new software category (analytics and performance management in sales and service organizations). The company was known for its high customer satisfaction and retention rates and strong culture and employee loyalty.I have also been involved in a number of non-profit organizations, principally in education and early childhood development.Specialties: entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, general management, product development, organizational design, business operations, strategy.
