ABOUT MAHESH MALI

As a Senior Application Engineer at Johnson Controls, I specialize in the design, programming, and commissioning of high-performance HVACR, Building Automation, and Integrated BMS solutions. My work focuses on mission-critical infrastructure, including hospitals, data centers, and international airports, where system reliability and energy efficiency are paramount.I complement my technical career with a deep commitment to academic inquiry through my YouTube channel, Mechanical Sant Philosophy. On this platform, I produce academic video essays and lectures centered on epistemology, ethics, and metaphysics. By applying the same analytical rigor to philosophy as I do to complex building systems, I aim to make profound intellectual traditions accessible and engaging for a global audience. This project serves as a scholarly repository designed to foster critical thinking and rigorous discourse within the online academic community.I am currently engaged with JCI’s OpenBlue Central Utility Plant (CUP) software projects, implementing machine learning-driven solutions that integrate with existing plant automation, meters, weather forecasts, and utility market data to optimize equipment set points for maximum energy and cost efficiency. My expertise extends beyond software to the hands-on development of building control programs and the commissioning of complex systems, including Chilled Water and Hot Water loops, AHUs, and FCUs. I have a proven track record of modernizing infrastructure by designing and upgrading legacy Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVACR controls to contemporary BACnet standards. My most significant professional achievement involves the successful design, programming, and commissioning of a major, decades-old chiller plant in Fort Worth, Texas, which stands as my most challenging and rewarding project to date.Beyond my professional and academic roles, I practice long-exposure photography, capturing the interplay of aperture and shutter speed to visualize the fluid dynamics of waterfalls and cityscapes. This precision translates to my passion for long-distance travel; I completed a expedition from Charlotte to San Francisco and back—an experience that reinforced my values of persistence and the broader perspective gained through exploration.Core Competencies- Technical: HVACR Systems Design, Programming, & Commissioning - Academic: Philosophy - Epistemology, Metaphysics, Ethics, History of Philosophy- Creative: Long Exposure Photography (Specializing in Waterfalls & Urban Skylines)
