About Luis Tomás Orozco Vaca
Undergraduate international student at Yale University double majoring in Economics and Sociology (Markets Concentration). Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, and have visited more than 35 countries in all inhabited continents. I am a passionate student of social dynamics and how political-economic motives drive them, and I believe in policy as a tool for a better future. The international community has been my home at Yale. I lead the International Students Organization, in charge of mediating the social life of Yale College’s plus-strong international community, and I was a counselor for the Orientation for International Students, where I got to welcome a new and diverse class of friends into our circle. I have also enjoyed writing and mingling with different academic communities. I’ve published in the Yale Environmentalist, and I’m currently the social chair of Yale’s only undergraduate Global Affairs magazine, the Yale Review of International Studies, where I also write succinct pieces and lead editing processes for our annual and prize issues. Full proficiency in Spanish and English, working proficiency in French, Portuguese. A life of traveling has given me unique insight into cultures around the world, and with it a life-long commitment to cosmopolitanism through empathic relationships and genuine conversation. I not only feel at home in a range of places, but also in a variety of social situations. At work, I can connect with diverse individuals while maintaining a bird’s-eye view, allowing me to lead dynamic and ambitious projects. I am unwavering in my idealistic but pragmatic mindset—scrupulous, organized, and will not settle for cut corners. Currently looking for an internship for summer 2025 in the consulting or international development spaces, as I prepare to devote my life’s work to facing civilizational challenges like global injustice and climate change through international cooperation and solidarity. I am particularly interested in policy analysis, building state capacity, labor-capital relations, and sustainable energy. Please contact me at l•••••••@yale.edu/+19•••••••22 to find out how I might contribute to taking your project to the next level.
