WORK HISTORY
Executive Chairman @1414 Degrees Ltd
Adelaide, AU
1414 Degrees is developing and commercialising its proprietary silicon-based thermal energy storage brick which is the key component in its thermal energy storage technology, SiBox™. SiBox™ uses SiBricks to store energy from electricity and output high temperature carbon free industrial heat by harnessing the extremely high latent heat capacity of silicon. This enables intermittent renewables to provide flexible, ultra-high temperature heat 24/7 for large industrial applications and to deliver reliable heat and power supply when required.

ABOUT KEVIN MORIARTY
With 40+ years in mining and energy exploration—and over three decades in corporate leadership—I’ve guided multiple companies from discovery through to development across Australia, Africa, and the MENA region. My background spans geology, clean energy innovation, and listed company leadership, with a strong record in IPOs, capital raising, and building strategic partnerships. In 2018, I led the IPO of 1414 Degrees (ASX:14D) to advance thermal energy storage using high-temperature silicon. When early prototypes underperformed, I brought in a team of materials science and engineering specialists. This pivot led to the development of SiBrick® and SiBox®—mass-producible systems that store and deliver high-temperature heat from renewable electricity. SiBox is now being commercialised with backing from Woodside Energy and the Australian Government. These innovations target one of the toughest challenges in the energy transition: industrial decarbonisation. By replacing gas-fired process heat with clean, dispatchable thermal energy, we’re helping heavy industry reduce emissions without sacrificing reliability or performance.We\'re also developing SiPHyR™—a world-first hydrogen production technology that uses silicon thermal storage to deliver continuous, low-emission hydrogen from methane without burning fossil fuels. It’s designed to match the cost of conventional hydrogen, while slashing emissions. These technologies support our Heat-as-a-Service (HaaS) model, enabling industrial clients to decarbonise without upfront capital—contracting clean, high-temperature heat as they need it.Previously, I served as Executive Chairman of Terramin Australia Ltd, where I developed the Angas Zinc Mine and led a $40M feasibility study of the Tala Hamza project in Algeria. I was also founding Chairman of Tarcoola Gold Ltd and have held board roles across several ASX-listed companies, guiding restructures and relistings.I’ve raised over $65M in funding and secured a $40M partnership with China’s NFC to support mine construction. My experience in the Middle East and North Africa led to my appointment to the Council for Australian-Arab Relations (09–12).A geologist by training, I’ve published research on sedimentology and paleoclimate, and held honorary research fellowships at Flinders and ANU.
