Hi, I’m John Zumph, a Cyber Security Specialist with a degree in Business Information Security from Arizona State University. I specialize in threat detection, incident response, and system hardening across both Linux and Windows virtual machines. In my current role, I work extensively with tools like Palo Alto Networks Panorama, CrowdStrike, AlienVault, Security Onion, and Guardicore to manage security policies, detect threats, and implement micro-segmentation and workload protection in containerized and virtualized environments. I primarily script in Python and PowerShell to automate security workflows, perform log analysis, and streamline incident investigations. While I have a solid understanding of SQL, my daily work is more focused on scripting, detection engineering, and endpoint protection. My journey into cybersecurity began with a natural curiosity about how systems work, evolving into a hands-on, detail-oriented approach to securing them. I’m passionate about staying current with emerging threats and contributing to resilient digital infrastructure.I’m always open to connecting with other professionals in the field — whether to collaborate, share insights, or explore new opportunities.
