ABOUT HANNA SHIGEMITSU

I am a third-year neuroscience major on the pre-med track, with a minor in music. My academic and research interests focus on Parkinson’s Disease and neurological movement disorders. I bring a unique blend of clinical, laboratory, and leadership experience- Hands-on experience collaborating with patients and physicians in a pain management clinic, developing strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills- Laboratory research and teaching assistant roles, providing a solid foundation in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication- Leadership and community engagement through Scripps Advocates and the Asian American Sponsor Program, fostering inclusion and advocacy- High-touch customer service expertise from roles at a State Farm agency and in fine dining, honing communication and adaptability- Strong communication and empathy skills developed through volunteering with elderly residents at a retirement home and Parkinson\'s Disease patients at exercise classes, building meaningful connections and supporting their well-being.I am eager to further expand my exposure to the medical field and contribute to patient-centered care and research.
