ABOUT GRACE WELSBY

I am a communications and engagement professional by trade who in recent years has made the transition to roles with a ‘trusted advisor’ focus across strategy and programme management. I have experience implementing strategic, ‘big picture thinking’ mahi in cross-government environments, primarily spanning policy and regulatory settings. I build strong and valuable relationships quickly, influencing and engaging stakeholders to gain buy-in and deliver joined-up, outcomes-focused work. Accustomed to juggling multiple projects and working in high-pressure environments, I’m a creative problem solver who puts out fires and sees opportunities when others see roadblocks.I\'m passionate about developing communications that resonate with actual people – whether that\'s \"our people\" on the receiving end of an organisation\'s change or transformation programme, or ensuring external messages reach all of New Zealand’s diverse communities. I\'m experienced across external communications (like working on the public information campaign for the cannabis and end of life choice referendums at the 2020 general election) to change/transformation programmes and technology projects (like replacing the legacy systems used by Immigration New Zealand to process visa applications). I recognise and respect Te Tiriti o Waitangi and te ao Māori. He uri ahau nō Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa.
