The intentions of the rōpū are to provide a network in the banking sector which shares ideas, deepens the collective understanding of key issues for Māori in the sector and their root causes, identifies opportunities for improvement and possible resolution of such issues and opportunities (both as a collective and across the individual signed member banks) and supports positive change and resolution. The initial focus areas for the Rōpū have been identified as follows:1. Te Pou Kaiāwha (Front Pillar/Storm Weathering): Bolstering access to capital toward un[der]-developed Māori land and housing.2. Te Poutokomanawa (Central pillar/ Heart-post): Contributing to the financial literacy of Māori.3. Te Pou Tū-a-Rongo (Rear Pillar): Working with the financial sector to boost employment of Māori across the various strata of the banks.
