I still remember my first Utah State University open house as an Admissions Ambassador. The conference center quickly filled with prospective students as they poured in from the Ogden area. I quickly found myself greeting hundreds of kids with a big smile and a passion for my university. It didn\'t take long for me to realize that my excitement was contagious and that I could be the deciding factor for someone\'s college experience. After 5 years I still have the same love and passion for helping others; My current position at Vanguard as an Advance to Financial Planning Associate has continued to provide me with a platform to help others and give back to my community; taking a stand for all investors. My work experience has truly shaped me into a strong candidate for any company, some of the many skills I have been able to build through diverse experiences are: Collaborative Problem Solving- While serving as an Advance to Financial Planning Associate I learned to tackle financial problems for both clients and advisors systematically; leveraging company resources and crewmates\' expertise I’ve been able to handle 30+ calls a day ranging from trade error resolution to explaining complex financial topics to novice investors. Communication- During my time as an Ambassador at Utah State I was able to improve my communication skills significantly. Throughout my 4 years in this role, I learned how to present to students in large and intimate settings confidently. Consistently recognized for my ability to lead as a Diversity ambassador and Cabinet member. Management- In October of 2020, I was able to manage and execute a fundraising event for Operation Underground Railroad. It was all funded through donations and personal savings. Our event came to fruition on a brisk October night with no hiccups, thanks to friends and family. We had multiple plans in place to react quickly to weather, sound, and volunteer complications. Following our event, we were able to donate over 1,400 dollars and had over 150 attendees. Diversity- My multicultural background and communication skills allowed me to connect with students from all backgrounds. Having grown up in a low-income house and predominantly white area, cross-cultural communication became second nature. Giving me the skills necessary to present at Utah State University events with 500+ students in attendance while catering to their group’s individual needs.
