Led the platform for a national on-farm emissions service: standards-based APIs, a high-performance gateway behind a WAF, a standards-based identity broker to the org IdP, end-to-end observability, and repeatable delivery via GitOps/IaC.• Designed on-demand compute: ephemeral job pods spin up per request and finish in 4–7s, keeping idle cost near zero while scaling cleanly.• Delivered secure email/messaging: managed delivery service + event triggers + serverless processing + archive; least-privilege and auditable flows.• Built self-service for scientists: a one-click path to deploy R/Python workloads to AKS in <10 min with WAF/AGW/DNS/certs auto-configured; researchers focus on code + Dockerfile → push → run.• Set API/service versioning & release: clear compatibility, deprecation windows, environment promotion, and schema/spec policy (ADRs & diagrams-as-code).• Made technical stories & DRIs first-class (security, performance, refactoring, infra); privacy-by-design and regular architecture checkpoints to align scope, risk, and cost.• Worked with an external UI vendor on clear interfaces; I owned platform contracts, edge policy, and secure messaging, shipped without compromising security or UX.• Paved paths: shipped golden templates (service scaffolds, IaC/Helm modules, policy packs) that standardised delivery and cut time-to-first-deploy.• Reliability & DR: led game days; published DR runbooks; defined isolation standards (namespaces, RBAC, network policies).• Also delivered across the wider estate:– Azure: landing zones; AKS with WAF/AGW; automated cert lifecycle; deploy-time DNS; CI/CD to Kubernetes.– OpenStack: pipelines + Ansible/Terraform modules for VM/services.– AWS: IoT/data patterns (Athena, Lambda, S3, Glue, API Gateway, IAM, PostgreSQL).– Governance: tagging/FinOps enforcement.
