About Eli Gifford

I am a Senior at the University at Albany pursuing a double major in the Financial Analyst Honors Program, and in Economics. The Financial Analyst Honors Program has provided me with fundamental skills in analytical accounting, as well as equity, fixed income, and alternative investment valuation. The Economics program has taught me how to analyze the underlying forces behind changes in financial markets as well as a comprehensive picture of the operational American Economy. Outside of my academic program, I have gained priceless hands-on experience through my roles as a Wealth Management Intern under The Poppo Group at UBS, and as a Senior Analyst in the University at Albany School of Business Investment Group. Under the Poppo Group, I provided investment research on market, sector, and company levels to assist the team’s investment decisions. This included reports on specific equities and funds, meetings with third party asset managers, and a research project on a specific sector with two equity recommendations. In The Investment Group on campus, I have functioned as a sell-side analyst, conducting bottom-up equity research in order to build a comprehensive financial model that is presented to an advisory board. Based on the presentation, the advisory board potentially takes a position, using money from the University\'s Endowment.I am engaged in a number of other organizations, such as University at Albany Men’s Club Soccer, Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity and Presidential Honors society, where I have held a number of leadership positions.
