About Constance Jones
People often ask the question of why they should participate in minority business development programs and don\'t we have the data to support that procurement and revenue receipts show little to no disparity for minorities. As being apart of the minority business development program for over 20 years, programs like HMSDC is still very needed and very relevant when discussing contracting opportunities for minority business enterprises. Here are just a few examples: 1. Access to capital. Minorities as a collective community has limited resources when trying to finance major expenditures for their businesses. We often see where smaller firms have to make critical decisions on where to spend their dollars in an effort to ensure they have enough capital to keep their operations a float. Organizations that support MBE development assist in finding capital or directing firms to the right capital resources. This in turns encourage growth and gives the firm the ability to compete for larger contracts. Access to resources. Many MBEs are successful professionals that had exciting and productive careers within major corporations. The institutional knowledge and skills acquired throughout their tenure, has not afforded them the opportunity to be their own boss. That transition is not always as seamless and it appears to be. By providing resources to firms, it makes for a stronger business infrastructure. The contacts made through networking, events and business development meetings are great ways to connect to greater opportunities. There are many more reasons why MBE development is still important and very relevant. By being apart of organizations that assist in wealth creation and economic development allows impact for minority communities today and beyond. Visit to see how you can engage and become a MBE impact warrior!
