What is Metro Regional Rail?The Regional Rail unit at Metro is responsible for planning, programming and implementing commuter rail projects in Los Angeles County that are operated by other agencies such as Metrolink, Amtrak, California High Speed Rail Authority and freight. Regional Rail unit continues to advance projects that improve regional rail mobility in Los Angeles County including preparing for eventual arrival of High Speed Rail as well as modernizing Union Station to transform it into a World Class transit and mobility hub for all operators. Since 2023, the Regional Rail department was separated into two departments. The Planning Department is responsible for the development of capital projects/programs and lead through environmental clearance. Once a project is environmentally cleared, the Program Management Department is responsible for the final design delivery and through construction completion.Specialties: Certified Envision Sustainability Professional, grade separations, station platforms, double tracking, in-fill stations, specification writer, interchange reconstructions, freeway widening, street improvements, light rail extensions, transit-oriented development improvements, low-impact design, active transportation design, and overcrossing replacements.
