At TikTok I lead Content Assurance and Data Defense teams for Global Security Organization.Content Assurance teams work to establish controls, assess processes, and secure systems to prevent inauthentic and unauthorized influence on TikTok content. My team provides oversight and technical enforcement of controls on content-impacting tools and processes to ensure security and compliance. Our goal is to ensure our platform remains free from manipulation.Content assurance is not Content Moderation. Data Defense is defensible implementation of Data Governance. In a typical big tech micro services environment off the shelf solutions cannot orchestrate and scale to provide meaningful compliance. My team consists of data engineers, scientists, developers and compliance experts focussed on building data protection solutions capable of safeguarding sensitive data while meeting compliance obligations of data lineage, retention, classification, encryption and most importantly Data Sovereignty.
