ABOUT ALEXANDER BOLLAERT

Experienced, pragmatic and versatile software engineer/architect, generalist with a strong sense of responsibility and focus on security.I can work across the stack, from designing and developing enterprise applications using Java/Spring/. to embedded systems using Linux and RTOSes like Zephyr.I have experience with various relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MariaDB, PostgreSQL.), using straight SQL as well as ORMs (Hibernate/JPA), as well as document stores like MongoDB, Firestore and timeseries database such as InfluxDB, Timescale. In the embedded sphere I designed and developed applications using embedded Linux (U-Boot, Linux kernel, Yocto.) and with the Zephyr RTOS (nRF connect SDK).While developing applications I learned a lot about security and how to design secure applications (including secure elements and HSMs). I also know my way around the cloud deploying applications using Kubernetes on GCP (and using stackdriver, grafana for observability). When not working, I like to tinker in home automation, and to dabble in programming languages (Golang, and most recently Rust). I also like reading, running, swimming, and a bit of gardening. I have an interest in bio-informatics and am trying to wrap my head around machine learning and deep learning.Languages : Java, C, C++, Python (the latter mostly for scripts). Notions of other languages (Scala, Golang, Rust, and a tiny bit of Haskell).I also have extensive experience in Linux, know my way around Docker and Kubernetes and various cloud platforms (most notably GCP), GitOps, Infrastructure-As-Code, Terraform, and DevOps in general.
