I’ve been empowering organizations for the past 9 years at Microsoft, my consulting work, and now my Emory University Goizueta Business School MBA projects and passion projects. I\'m a child of 2 worlds: Atlanta, Georgia and Manhattan, New York. My father is a doctor, and he taught me how to be analytical. My mother taught me how to make a proper southern cornbread and used her experience teaching Army units how to use computers in the 70\'s to teach me how to use computers. I grew up in a melting pot. Because of this broad mindedness and curiosity, I learned to embrace and communicate colloquially with many different cultures. I\'ve worked with and mentored teammates in Seattle, China, India, Romania, and Atlanta. I managed a team in India for our GDPR implementation project, and worked with engineers in China to release new Compute features. I broke down cultural barriers and made personal connections. Then I inspired them to work with me to reach the best outcome. I even went to meetings at 3am EST to speak with my China engineers to meet deadlines! They grew to respect my work and me personally often delaying review requests until I was available to ensure I would be the one to review their work. I’ve seen this problem time and time again; Engineers and managers speaking past each other and going nowhere fast. It’s a tragedy when 2 well-meaning people fall short because of miscommunications. I want to ensure that doesn’t happen by being an empathetic, broad minded, data driven interpreter of information with the intent to empower my business partners. By being a thoughtful and technical listener, I understand each role’s perspective and can translate both from managers to engineers and engineers to managers. When I was implementing a new security level in Virtual Machines and Virtual Machine Scale Sets, I initially had to spend several hours working with the India based PM to clarify the design specs, edit several requirements to be technically possible given our Performance KPIs, and convincingly update team expectations.I fill my free time with more work! I realize how useful my knowledge is and am sharing it. I consulted for the AI startup SuperCopy, and the gym tech startup Fitsuz in Portugal.
