I have worked in the area of Development at Haven of Rest Ministries since 1989, and I am currently a member of the ministry\'s leadership team. I work with departments to identify funding and program needs and also direct fundraising activities for the ministry in the areas of direct mail, major gifts, planned giving, corporate giving, foundation giving, media and public relations, social media, digital marketing, and special events. I also help determine and oversee all acquisition and cultivation strategies for the ministry. The development team implements strategies that improved donor retention, average gift, and number of gifts. I prepare and implement the annual development plan, work closely with the executive director to identify and implement development strategies and analyze results, prepare budgets, and supervise development departmental staff. I facilitate the identification and tracking of organizational outcome measures, facilitate the ministry\'s strategic planning committee and sub-committees i.e. expansion, programs and services, human resource, and development.In addition, as a member of the ministry\'s strategic planning committee I conduct research and prepare a periodic Environmental Scan identifying key trends in areas of interest to the ministry in terms of social and economic factors, legal and technological trends, fundraising, political, programs and services, homelessness, volunteerism, church relations, etc. I then identify what implications these trends hold for Haven of Rest. I was also instrumental in implementing the ministry\'s annual Hope Sports Camp for 200 urban youth, its African American History Celebration, and its Hope Tote campaign distributing thousands of personal care items to families in a five county area.
