Bringing together years of international and local experience solving strategic and cultural challenges for ASX50 and FTSE10 companies, Varya is now focused on providing leadership to accelerate energy transition initiatives as Australia moves to a decarbonised economy. She is passionate about supporting boards and executive teams to translate intent into meaningful impact. Varya has spent much of her career working with upstream oil and gas players, as well as in mining and transmission & distribution, including most recently leading PwC Australia’s Energy Transition and Energy, Utilities and Resources Consulting businesses.With the complexity of the industry transformation challenges ahead as well as the economic and social opportunities Varya will draw on her years of strategy consulting experience as well as her prior global Culture, Leadership and Change and Digital Operations leadership roles.Prior to becoming a non-executive director Varya was a Strategy & partner, consulting for almost 30 years with leading public and private sector organisations across Europe, the Middle East, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. Varya brings a depth of hands-on experience from her leadership of enterprise-wide transformation programs in large, complex and often industrially sensitive situations. She has led one of the largest public sector reforms in Australia and driven productivity transformations for utilities and miners on the east and west coast. Varya is also an advocate for maximising the social and economic opportunities associated with climate action and focuses on making sustainable change happen.
