WORK HISTORY
Chief Executive Officer @Fenton
Valarie brings energy, leadership and passion for social change to both her work in strategic communications and her commitment to the community. During her two year stewardship as CEO, the agency has doubled in size in both revenue and number of staff members – a notable achievement for a firm in its 40th year. Valarie is the agency’s first woman and person of color to serve as CEO. Under Valarie’s leadership, Fenton leads the industry in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) with 55% of the agency’s overall staff and 62% of Fenton’s C-suite representing people of color. Fenton’s clients include Johnson & Johnson, Stop AAPI Hate, Black Voters Matter, Color of Change, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, National Nurses United, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and PwC. Fenton was recognized by PR Week for “Best Nonprofit Campaign of the Year” for Stop AAPI Hate; as Best Digital Team by PR Daily; and Valarie herself was recognized by PRSA-LA as a Sunrise honoree for her leadership in DEI.
