ABOUT TONY HOLMES

I am Tony Holmes, a seasoned technology professional, and currently serve as the Practice Lead for Solutions Architects in the Public Sector at Pluralsight. My journey in the tech world spans over two decades, during which I\'ve had the privilege of working with some of the world\'s most forward-thinking technology organizations, including the British Broadcasting Corporation, Digital Equipment Corporation, Microsoft Research, Opsware, Hewlett Packard, and Oracle.In my current role at Pluralsight, is part Field CTO for public sector, and part Solutions Consulting Leader, I focus on creating the best possible solutions for tech organizations. This involves understanding how to build successful and creative technology teams - a task that\'s becoming increasingly challenging as technology continues to advance exponentially.I\'ve developed a unique approach to talent acquisition. I\'ve learned the importance of rethinking how we engage with candidates, particularly when hiring for positions that may not have existed as recently as six months ago, and lack recruitment precedent.In addition to my leadership role at Pluralsight, I am also a public speaker, sharing my insights and ideas on various topics. I\'ve delivered talks on the cybersecurity staffing crisis, the concept of hiring an \"astronaut\"(a metaphor for a highly skilled and adaptable employee), and the importance of cultivating a culture of learning within organizations.My expertise is widely recognized, and I\'ve been invited to share my insights with various organizations, including the Information Technology Association of Canada, Digital Government Institute, Oracle Corporation, and the Advanced Technology Academic Research Center, among others.I pride myself on being a creative thinker and problem solver. As an expert-generalist and a technology architect, I combine strong critical thinking skills with a clear understanding and appreciation of commercial challenges. I\'m adept at applying creatively designed technical solutions that address and alleviate a business\'s tactical and strategic pain points.Whether I\'m explaining the details of a system to engineers or communicating business value and technical direction to senior and board-level executives, I am capable of navigating various levels of dialogue with ease. I am personable and adaptable, capable of fitting into any team. Through my dedication to problem-solving and innovation, I strive to make a positive impact in every interaction.
