Tombot is developing robotic companion animals for seniors with dementia. Inspired by our co-founder\'s mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011, the purpose of the robot is to function as a companion where the choice of a live animal is no longer desirable or practical. Animal therapy studies with seniors with dementia show significant improvements in mood, and reduced need for psychotropic and anti-psychotic medications. Research further shows that robotic animals can mimic the benefits of live animals, without the care burden or risk of bites or allergic reactions. Tombot is currently in development of our first product.
