I am super curious, in fact I may be one of the most curious people you meet. Ever since I was young, I asked “why” about almost everything, and especially wanted to understand how things worked. It’s probably not all that shocking that I ended up in the world of technology where understanding and deconstructing things is par for the course. Starting off in some pretty technical roles, it didn’t take long to realize that what really piqued my interest was seeing how technology could improve business operations in such a meaningful way. Wanting to guide improvements first hand, I entered the project management space and began to learn about different corporate functions and how they all worked together – the curious “why” version of me was in his element. As the projects got bigger, harder, more ambiguous and higher stakes, I started to realize that the key to success wasn’t an amazing schedule, but rather having an engaged project team that was setup for success. The ability to empower team members is a game changer and it happens to be a superpower of mine. A variety of different roles in technology ultimately led me to the opportunity to start a PMO from scratch. A juicy business problem, a blank piece of paper, and a team of one – what a great environment to bring it all together. Setting the strategic direction, hiring a team and helping them grow, building a purposeful PMO framework to make projects easier – not slower, resulted in the creation of a PMO brand that the org would come to rely on to get things done. I love to problem solve, optimize, help people succeed, and am forever curious and never want to stop learning.
