ABOUT TIFFANY THOMAS
I respect the need for and dedication to pure research, but I firmly believe that science pursued in a vacuum does not benefit anyone. I love the execution of applied science, particularly as it can directly benefit the environment and society.I\'m passionately motivated by the opportunity to solve a client’s problem with unique and multi-disciplinary approaches. Over my 24-year environmental career, I has continually embraced this challenge across a diverse array of public- and private-sector industries. My experience includes projects for clients such as chemical manufacturers, oil & gas companies, the Department of Defense, and water treatment plants, among others. I have applied various forensic techniques to opine on past sources of contamination in support of litigation across the country, serving as both a technical and testifying expert. By embracing my clients’ problems as my own, I have been able to find solutions for multiple contaminant chemistries, including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, polychlorinated biphenyls, dioxins, metals, and nutrients. I have extensively focused on contaminant fate and transport; data and statistical analysis; remedial design; and novel chemical analyses, including isotopic, spectroscopic, and novel bench-scale analytical methods. My applied chemical knowledge includes the application and interpretation of various geochemical, statistical, and fate-and-transport models. My role is to provide project teams with a holistic view of the geochemical controls on contaminant migration and toxicity.
