ABOUT TATIANA VIZCAÍNO

Tatiana Vizcaíno is a bilingual community researcher and nonprofit professional dedicated to fostering trust and connections to address complex issues through community engagement. She effectively bridges language and cultural barriers, enhancing participation and cross-cultural understanding in projects that promote language access and justice.As the Director of Community Initiatives at United Way Merced, Tatiana collaborates with organizations such as NAMI California and the Duke Clinical Research Institute to incorporate language and cultural considerations into education, advocacy training, and community-engaged scholarship.Originally from Mexico City, Tatiana\'s background in international relations and language learning informs her facilitation approach. She utilizes adult learning principles, popular education methods, translation, and cultural mediation to ensure diverse community voices are heard in research and civic processes.Tatiana is passionate about supporting emerging leaders in non-English-speaking communities and promoting practices that encourage openness and respect. Her professional achievements include integrating Spanish into a National Institutes of Health-funded research project, coordinating the first Spanish-language candidate forum in Merced, and managing a program for training healthcare interpreters.She also aims to promote community mental wellness practices and aspires to become a Jungian psychoanalyst in the next decade.
