Steve Ellis, has spent his career guiding mid-market to Fortune 50 companies through growth and volatility. As immediate past Chair of Proskauer Rose, a leading Am Law international law firm, Steve managed the firm’s P&L and strategic plan, and oversaw growth in transactional and private capital offerings, while leading the firm through a period of historic financial, commercial, and sociopolitical disruption.During this time as Chair, Proskauer earned acclaim from American Lawyer, Bloomberg, Seramount, and Vault, with recognition including Best Law Firm for Women, “top 10 for mid-level and summer associate satisfaction,” and “top 5 in the industry for best firm to work for and overall diversity.”Earlier, Steve co-headed Proskauer’s Private Credit Practice, which became the market’s preeminent legal private credit practice, with offices in New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, and Paris. The private credit team leads many of the world’s largest asset managers and lenders through business and risk counseling, practical advocacy, and complex financing structures. Collectively, the team enables portfolio companies, private equity firms, and their enterprise customers to grow through transactions ranging from mergers and acquisitions, growth capital, and dividend recapitalizations, to refinancings, corporate restructurings, and special situations. Before joining Proskauer, Steve was a partner at Goodwin Procter, where he helped lead the sponsored finance team.Steve today serves on the Board of Trustees for his alma mater, Noble & Greenough School in Dedham, MA, and as a board member for Team IMPACT, Inc, a non-profit that pairs children battling chronic illness with collegiate athletic teams.He holds a juris doctor from Boston University School of Law, and a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University. He is ranked as an Eminent Practitioner by Chambers USA.
