ABOUT SOPHIA MCDONNELL
As an avid social scientist, I am passionate about exploring some of the trickiest and most critical social issues, as well as understanding what people really think, feel and do when faced with difficult social questions. Having studied a wide range of social sciences including sociology, cultural studies, economics and political science, I approach the world from a distinctly interdisciplinary angle. My multi-method training encompassing traditional quantitative and qualitative methods as well as innovative digital approaches and AI helps open up a multi-faceted panorama of politics and society that takes into account different perspectives and innovative ideas. In my studies, work and activism, I particularly engaged with questions around non-discrimination, gender equality, youth, race and ethnicity, international justice, care work,(organizational) culture, sustainability and climate justice. In my PhD dissertation, I interpreted voluntary refugee support as care work and put forward a care-ethical approach to integration. Since starting to work at Verian / Kantar Public in 2019, I have been responsible for research projects on topics as diverse as gender equality, youth and demicratic engagement, sustainability or disinformation on social media. I help clients make sense of their most vital and complex issues by providing high quality evidence and insight informed by international best practice and expert knowledge.
