About Skyler Saunders
Currently working as a Project Management Consultant with a specialization in Organizational Change Management supporting Child Welfare/Child Support IT system modernization projects across the US. Prior experience includes over 5 years of experience in the Florida Child Welfare system, specifically working in child protection and investigations. Primary knowledge in child abuse, neglect, and maltreatment. Solid foundation in other aspects of child welfare including the Community Based Care model, case management, foster care, adoption, and legal. Strong advocate for LGBTQ+ youth. Was a mentor for FL Department of Children and Families (DCF) leadership team as well as a member of the Leadership Academy to further hone leadership skills. As a Program Administrator at FL DCF, oversaw a Service Center of over 30 investigators and over 400 open child abuse investigations. Oversaw two specialized Units - the Substance Exposed Newborn Unit and Institutional Unit. Directly hired new investigators and ensured workflow for a 24/7 operation. As a Data & Quality Specialist, worked to improve quality by utilizing data analysis with the Department. Provided over 20 different trainings to investigators on all aspects of child welfare across 12 counties. Partnered with Equality Florida to provide a training specifically around LGBTQ+ Youth and their needs in the community. As a Child Protective Investigator Supervisor, oversaw the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) specialized unit that handled extremely egregious forms of abuse/neglect including child fatalities, burns, and bone fractures. Personally investigated or supervised over 100 child fatality cases in Orange County Florida. Worked closely with community partners such as Child Protection Team and law enforcement - building everlasting relationships that have carried through career. Mentored and coached four different investigators into supervisors in a year.
