About Scot J. Matkovich
I\'m a highly collaborative scientist, making the most of my skills in computational biology and statistics, preclinical cardiovascular and metabolic biology, and project leadership to contribute to drug discovery efforts. Extensive awareness of the clinical heart failure, obesity and kidney disease landscapes and their unmet needs, enabling leadership of drug discovery projects. Integrator of multiple ‘omics’ viewpoints for a systems-based understanding of cell and organism function. Subject matter expert in both laboratory-based and computational analyses, with an RNA focus. Experienced in the analysis of human patient cohorts for hypothesis generation and testing, gene variant discovery and functional genomic studies.I place great value on untangling and presenting complex data clearly and concisely to a variety of stakeholders (clinicians, biologists, computational researchers and management). As a corollary, I place great value in obtaining highly quantitative, accurate and reproducible data in any scientific endeavor. Through independent effort, I have pivoted from my initial focus on in vivo and in vitro experimentation to informatic and statistical analyses as a computational biologist, and welcome the continuous learning opportunities and challenges that arise.Personal website:https://sjmatkovich.github.io/Github:https://github.com/sjmatkovich/(non-proprietary projects only)Published my down time, I try to (re-)master the classical piano literature I worked on in my high school and college years. I maintain a keen interest in photography and I enjoy walking trails that take me to unexpected sights.
