ABOUT SIMON C.

As a web developer who enjoys building new web applications, I like to spend my time learning new code and how to integrate them into my websites. Since my time at the Humber College web development program is coming to an end, I am eager to work with others to help them create or improve the websites that they want to come into fruition. One of the websites that I enjoyed building the most is called SkillMastery, a platform that connects tutors to learners. At the time, I found it to be a daunting task because I had only built very simple web applications before. The site required different types of user profiles (tutors, learners, and admin), a sign up and login process, and a search feature. Even though building a platform was a lot of work, I built it one feature at a time through my knowledge of JavaScript and its frameworks, and by going through some of its documentation. The result is at https://skillmastery.simonmchung.com/ My career actually started off as a civil project engineer in the construction industry because I enjoyed working on projects and building things. But I also had other passions such as travelling and learning languages such as French in my free time. When I heard about the English Language Assistant program which lets participants spend 7 months in France while teaching English to high school students for a few hours a week, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity; I packed up my bags and became a teaching assistant in France. While I was in France, I had a lot of flexibility with my hours, and it was there that I decided to try a free coding class online. I became hooked after my first Hello, World! and now here I am building websites. If you’re interested in learning more about me or just want to chat, feel free to connect!
