ABOUT SHAUN GEERTSHUIS
I am a Business Analyst with over a decade of experience in understanding, simplifying, and improving complex systems. I recently completed my postgraduate degree in computing where I created a data pipeline and machine learning model to predict extreme rainfall over South Africa using gigabytes data from Google Earth Engine. I love working with Python and am currently building a web-based vectorised knowledge network. The project combines Python, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Node.js, and Solid.js to structure and explore meaning through enhanced content and relationships. My background spans business analysis, psychology, bespoke system design, forex, stock control, UI/UX, academic computing (including formal logic and discrete mathematics), as well as data engineering and machine learning. I work comfortably across disciplines to drafting precise requirements, build visual analytics, or design smart data pipelines in Python. I thrive in roles where logic meets creativity, and where the problems are just difficult enough to be interesting. My ideal next role is one that consistently presents stimulating challenges—ideally requiring custom solutions in data engineering, natural language processing, or visualisation.
