Shane Bird is currently the Director of Spa and Environmental Services Operations at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino. At Turning Stone he is responsible for the operations of Skana Spa, Ahsi Spa, the Tower Fitness, and the EVS department. Under Shane\'s leadership Skana was recognized by Forbes Travel Guide as a 4 Star spa in 2017. Located in the heart of Upstate New York, the Oneida Indian Nation\'s Turning Stone Resort Casino offers world-class golf, gaming, entertainment, dining, spa and accommodations on over 3,400 acres.Prior to Turning Stone Shane was the Spa Director at the Aji Spa at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort. At Aji he strived to maintain the incredibly rich culture of the Gila River Indian Community while bringing new aspects to the amazing Aji property. He spearheaded an effort to grow an organic garden for the spa\'s use and worked with local healers to create unique offerings that paid homage to the rich history of the Gila River. Previously Shane spent 10 years with Canyon Ranch where he was instrumental in the opening of the Canyon Ranch properties in Las Vegas at the Venetian and Palazzo, in Kissimmee at the Gaylord Palms, and on board the legendary Queen Mary 2. Shane is trained as a massage therapist which gives him unique skills as a Spa Director or in Spa Development. Shane has created multiple services and has established training programs, quality assurance measures, and mentoring techniques to insure that the staff deliver an unmatched level of service always anticipating a guest’s need. He was the Project Manager for the square foot expansion of the Canyon Ranch SpaClub at the Venetian where he was intimately involved in the design, construction, and opening of the largest spa in North America.From services to facilities there is not an aspect of the Spa Industry that is not a part of Shane\'s repertoire.
