ABOUT SEBASTIAN BARNUTZ

Welcome – I’m a partner at Metaplan, supporting leaders in the Life Science industry in making progress where it counts most: in complex, high-stakes environments where clarity, alignment, and movement don’t come easy. What energizes me? A conviction that leadership is not about command and control, but about shaping spaces where people can take responsibility. In organizations, sustainable development rarely comes from top-down instructions. Instead, it emerges when members are activated and are integrated to co-create the structures that shape their own work. What drives my work is the belief that asking the right questions – and not letting go too soon – is the means to a more powerful answer. In systems shaped by competing logics and regulatory pressure, progress is rarely linear. It requires spaces where tensions can surface, be processed, and ultimately transformed into joint action. Over the past 12 years, I’ve worked with teams in pharma, MedTech and life sciences. I’ve also had the privilege of shaping something closer to home: the growth of Metaplan’s Life Science team – both in the DACH region and globally. Together, we together with our clients… - navigate the layered logic of the healthcare ecosystem- identify tensions and shifts in the pharmaceutical landscape- enable strategic collaboration across functions, silos, and hierarchies.
