ABOUT SCOTT THOMPSON

I have worked with a variety of organizations across the western Canada, supporting all sizes of plans from very small executive supplemental plans to very large single-employer plans with thousands of members. Over the course of my careers I\'ve been fortunate to live and work in Calgary and Vancouver, and have had short-term assignments abroad in Tokyo and São Paulo. I am a pension expert with a diverse and broad background, having worked on consulting assignments ranging from technical valuation work and programming to plan design for defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans. I am also experienced preparing regulatory evidence for rate-regulated utilities, SERP funding and design, delivering employee education, asset transfers, mergers and acquisitions, plan wind-up and annuity purchase, executive disclosures and pension governance. I have in-depth knowledge of pension legislation and regulatory requirements in many provincial jurisdictions along with expertise in various pension accounting standards.
