ABOUT SANGITA HOTA

I am an Engineering Manager with a well-rounded IT background in software engineering and team leadership, currently leading one of Transpower’s Software Engineering teams and overseeing its technical delivery. I’m passionate about building an environment where people are engaged, accountable for their growth and performance, and empowered to continuously improve.I also contribute to the Application Services Strategy, focusing on strengthening our Software Engineering capability through the right mix of people, processes, and technology. For the past three months, I’ve been serving as the Acting Head of Application Services, expanding my leadership across multiple capability areas and strategic programmes.I joined Transpower in 2014 as a Solution Designer and later spent two years as a Developer, gaining hands-on experience in our technical ecosystem. I then led the Market System Simplification Project, a complex multi-year transformation that migrated our systems from PL/SQL to Java and deployed them on OpenShift—a global first at this scale. The project earned a Judges’ Commendation for Engineering and Technology Excellence.After that, I moved into Applications Architect and then Software Development Manager roles, where I built a new development practice, scaled a high-performing team, and enhanced our engineering capability. My current role as Engineering Manager includes governance leadership across several strategic programmes.Highlights include:• Real Time Pricing: Governance leadership for a landmark project that won both the Engineering and Technology Excellence Award (Energy in Future category) and the Supreme Award for Best of the Best.• Digital Switch Management: Governance leadership in a project recognised as a finalist for Engineering and Technology Excellence.I’ve spent my career working where tech, leadership, and strategy meet leading big technical changes, growing engineering teams, and running award-winning projects that help shape where the energy industry is headed.
