ABOUT SANDUN FERNANDO
I am an academic with a strong interest in behavioural finance, particularly in investor heterogeneity and short selling. My research focuses on developing trading strategies based on investor activities. This research demonstrates that the market has ample opportunity to gain if one acts correctly.Additionally, our latest publication provides much-needed empirical evidence on short sellers. In this publication, we show that short sellers do contribute to market efficiency even in a sharp market downturn, adding a new dimension to short-selling activities in down markets, in contrast to the existing view that short sellers are the villains of down markets.Recently, I have become interested in cryptocurrencies, particularly how cryptocurrencies are valued. As an academic, I see immense potential for contribution in this area.
